The development of the UCSB Free Electron Lasers
The development of a free electron laser (FEL) at the UCSB Center
for Free Electron Laser Studies, as a high power, coherent, tunable
source in the far infrared, provides a unique opportunity for the study
of nonlinear excitations in condensed matter systems. The instrument is
used by a number of UCSB condensed matter experimentalists, as well as
by researchers in the UCSB engineering materials department and visitors
from other institutions.
